This special gift was my first attempt at creating a cupcake bouquet. It was designed as a special gift to welcome new baby twin boys!

To start out, a simple ceramic pot was filled with some dry beans for weight and a 5″ Styrofoam ball was place on top and taped in place. Next came the tricky part…placing all 19 chocolate cupcakes to look like the bouquet. In this case I decided to place them un-iced and then ice them once they were firmly in their location on the bouquet. I used 2-3 toothpicks per cupcake to stick into the foam ball. Then to fill in the gaps, I cut up some tissue paper in a few shades of green and stuffed them between the cupcakes to look like leaves and greenery in the bouquet. I then iced each cupcake to look like a yellow rose and added a few white sugar pearls to each one. The last step was to add the customized cookie pops (which were also a first for me). They were flooded and decorated with the boys’ names and carefully stuck into the top of the foam ball to finish it off.

The transport of this bouquet was a little bit tricky…still an area I need to work on, however the new mom absolutely loved them! From a distance, you can barely tell that they’re cupcakes and not real flowers! I’ll definitely be making a few more of these in the future! What a great gift!
